Mother Nature can be a bad business partner!

Mother Nature can be a bad business partner. The unpredictability and fluctuation of weather conditions means we can never quite be sure of what each month will bring. As we welcome the new year, we reflect on the ups and downs of the past year. 2021 was a challenging year for many, with springtime frosts in May threatening young buds, and a gloomy wet summer with very little summer sunshine. Despite this we came through unscathed and even managed to gain a good balance between our sugars and acids at Harvest, and overall, the team were really happy with the quality and ripeness of the fruit. We think we will have some cracking still wines for you this spring.

Our team has worked hard year round and adapted to new ways of working. We welcomed visitors to our brand new tasting room and partnered with some fantastic small and local businesses such as Wine Tours of Kent and Vine and Country Tours. We met and chatted with many customers at Chart Farm Shop in Sevenoaks who hosted us on several tasting days which we thoroughly enjoy every time.

Later in the year we also discovered the fabulous Gibsons farm shop in Wingham, Canterbury, who now stock Wayfarer Wines and created a really stunning display, pictured above! So be sure to pay them a visit in Wingham and pick up a bottle!

Looking ahead to 2022, we will continue to nurture the vines and we continue to be committed to working sustainably, constantly looking for ways to innovate and improve the vineyard from the soil up. We will be releasing some exciting new vintages and wines, hosting tours and tastings with the introduction of cheese and charcuterie graze boards, so keep an eye on our website for the like to add this to your tour!
