Spring Update- April

Pruning has now successfully been completed at both vineyard sites- hooray! But there is no rest for the team as our first buds are showing signs of bursting into life at our Highfield Estate in Woodchurch.

We will be spending the coming weeks tying the vines to the trellis to secure the vines and train them into our double guyot training system (where the vine has two canes, or ‘arms’ - one to the left and one to the right to create a T shape!) We need to finish tying the vines down before buds burst fully as once they emerge they are very delicate and easily knocked off the vine. It’s a precarious time though, as the vines are easily snapped if care is not taken to tie them carefully down to the fruiting wire. As weather gets warmer and the vines begin to wake up, sap starts to flow and the canes bend more easily, but until then this job must be performed carefully.

We have new wines being bottled in the first few weeks of April, new vintages of our classic range of wines, plus an additional exciting new release wine, but more on that next month when its ready for release!! Stay posted!!
